CORE Health Care is a specialty residential treatment provider located in Austin and Dripping Springs, Texas, with three facilities providing post-acute brain injury rehabilitation; long-term care for people with brain injuries; and long-term care for people with complex psychiatric disorders, autism or other special needs. This continuum of care is attractive to the people we serve and their families because of its natural emphasis on maximizing independence. The facility programs are small by design because quality healthcare cannot be mass produced if each individual's life goals are to be encouraged and brought forth. The desire of everyone at CORE is to maximize each person's quality of life by developing leisure, social and vocational pursuits that the individual finds meaningful and consistent with personal life goals. For some, this includes restoring independence so that they can live in a less restrictive environment with minimal need for support services.

Our relationship with each resident's family is a true partnership bound by mutual goals. We foster that partnership through open and honest communication and a willingness to respond to family requests in a timely, optimistic manner. This cooperation helps ensure a positive outlook for everyone involved—focused on our residents' strengths and achievements. We encourage families to support their loved ones through visits and phone calls. Additionally, CORE staff supports families through the hardships associated with traumatic brain injury, mental illness, autism and special needs by offering family guidance, counseling and practical solutions for becoming a family again. We will help families celebrate the joys that occur when residents gain new independence and adapt to their disabilities.

CORE's licensed professional staff provides physical, occupational and speech therapies, as well as cognitive and therapeutic intervention with professional staff emphasizing a best practices approach for each person. Direct care personnel, many of whom are certified through the Brain Injury Association of America, help to further the gains of formal therapy by fostering a challenging and therapeutic environment. Direct care staff provide input to the treatment team on a daily basis, monitor treatment programs in work shifts around the clock, provide structure and supervision for clients to practice new skills, and support clients in transitional programs. The full immersion in and integration of the treatment environment provides one of CORE's key strengths. Residential staff members have a variety of backgrounds and interests. For example, they may be certified brain injury specialists and/or trainers, certified nursing assistants, nursing students and students in related human service disciplines with Bachelors and/or Masters Degrees. We also utilize a variety of clinical and program outcome measures to ensure that we are objectively achieving our residents' goals.
