Occupational Therapy

/

Occupational Therapy is a service traditionally utilized in rehabilitation programs to provide individuals with skills for the job of living their lives. Typical efforts and treatment modalities of this therapeutic discipline include:

  • Self-care
  • Clothing Management
  • Meal Planning and Preparation
  • Home Management
  • Money Management
  • Safety Awareness
  • Community Integration
  • Pre-Vocational Skills
  • Durable Medical Equipment Assessment and Training
  • Family Education and Training

Occupational Therapy at CORE Health Care helps individuals regain a measure of control and self-management over activities that, by and large, they were previously able to do for themselves. As human beings, the loss of independence is painful. While relying on others to provide assistance with daily chores may be necessary after an injury or illness, it can be very difficult to accept. CORE's occupational therapists not only provide consistent emotional support to residents, but also help them to rebuild as much as possible while simultaneously learning to accept those supports when change is not possible.
